Log from Wednesday night (29 Sept 2010) 2m FM Net

So, here we have it, my log from the 5th Wednesday of the Month 2m FM Net that was held on the 29th September 2010. It was interesting how many people were reporting they could hear VK2IG out at Gundaroo. A very interesting evening.

Thanks again to all who participated, it made sitting up on Red Hill all the more worthwhile.

If anyone has any logs they'd like me to post up, please send them through.

(Oh, and I've not forgotten about the log from the lunch time net today. I'll try and do that one tomorrow night – it's about the same size.)

Second VK1 2m FM Lunchtime Net a Success!!

Photo

Today saw the second "VK1 2m FM Lunchtime Net" take place. It was a great turn out with some 15 people – an improvement factor of almost 3 over last week (and almost as many as last night). So things are growing and it's going to be great to see where we end up.

And to give an idea of participation (although I hope to write up the log later tonight) a basic triangle of coverage would consist of the three points of:
– Bruce (northern ACT)
– Bonython (southern ACT)
– Sparrow Hill (10km outside of Bungendore, NSW – east of ACT)

Logs for last night and today will hopefully go up tonight. 😉

VK1 2m FM 5th Wednesday Net a Success! (More details soon)

Well tonight's net has come and gone. It was a bit wild up on Red Hill (a lot of questionable types about) so only a quick photo at the end while packing up so that I could get down off the hill. Ideally I would have got the tripod out, but instead just beefed up the ISO to 1600 – hence lots of noise.

More details (such as the log) to come once I have some sleep etc. 🙂

Thanks all who participated!! (16 people in the end – from one south to north of the ACT and beyond.)

2m FM Net Tonight – 0930Z – 147.500MHz

Tonight I will be running a net from Red Hill for the Canberra Region’s Amateur Radio Club’s (CRARC) 5th Wednesday of the month fun activity. Compared to my lunchtime net, I’ll be more equipped.

I’ll have my Diamond X-50N antenna mounted on a 4m mast. I’ll hook this up to my FT-7800 that I normally use for WICEN activities and have even packed my SWR meter just so that I can check this new antenna.

Hopefully we’ll get a good turn out, and I’ll post up the resulting log (and maybe some photos). 🙂
